Danish MUSICIAN
RIN

Rin, a Danish music artist, sought a fresh visual identity for her debut single & EP. I crafted a visual identity that reflects Rin’s genuine and transformative journey. From the single cover art to social media graphics and promotional materials, the new branding captures her authenticity and ensures a cohesive presence across all platforms.

  • Identity development
    Logo design
    Typography selection
    Single & album cover
    Digital banners & posters

  • The brand name and logo has a rounded organic flow interrupted by vertical harsh lines from each letter spelling out the word Rin. Inspired by the ocean the Logo mimics a wave like shape that almost have a rhythm to it: soft yet static.

  • To pair off the logo a font with the same beat and rhythm was chosen. A lighter font that dosen’t take the focus from the logo, but by it self still has character and the same round language yet with vertical solid lines creating a similar static voice to the letters.

Rin's visual identity is deeply intertwined with her upbringing in southern Jutland, a region known for its striking natural beauty and the ever-changing moods of the ocean. Growing up in this environment, Rin developed a profound connection to the natural world around her, which has significantly influenced her artistic vision.

  • The ocean plays a crucial role in Rin’s artistic rebirth, symbolizing both her past and her creative evolution. Growing up along the southern Jutland coast, Rin was shaped by the sea’s dual nature—its serene beauty and its stormy intensity. This constant presence in her upbringing has deeply influenced her artistic vision. As she redefines her identity, the ocean’s shifting moods reflect her own journey of transformation, blending continuity with reinvention.

COLOR PALETTE

The color palette is carefully selected to evoke the natural elements Rin experienced in her youth. It includes shades of blue and green reminiscent of the ocean and coastal landscapes, as well as earthy tones. These colors are directly taken from the cover of Rin's first single, ensuring a cohesive and harmonious visual identity across all marketing materials.

SINGLE COVER ART

The cover features a raw, authentic, and newly buzzcut Rin partly dissolved in water.

It was crucial to present Rin as unedited and genuine, mirroring the identity reflected in her music. This means that her skin, with all its breakouts and imperfections, should not be concealed with filters and edits, but rather embraced and celebrated. The partial submersion in water suggests that her image is still in flux, emphasizing that she's not yet a finished product. She is still evolving and transforming.

EP COVER ART

For her second release the EP, titled I Mine Grønne Øjn’, we choose to shift her visual focus to a forest and grass theme, marking a significant evolution from the watery imagery of her debut. The title, which translates to "In My Green Eyes," evokes a sense of introspection and personal connection, aligning seamlessly with the album’s cover design.

The dense, green forest symbolizes a deep dive into the personal and emotional landscapes that the album explores. It represents a space of growth, self-discovery, and renewal, mirroring the themes of reflection and transformation in her music.

PICTURE EDITING

In this edited image, the grass seems to gently swallow Rin, symbolizing how nature's foundational elements intertwine with her personal identity. The visual effect of the grass merging with her skin represents a harmonious union between Rin and the natural environment, capturing the essence of being deeply rooted in one’s surroundings.

To enhance the raw and honest feel of the album, I applied a grainy texture to the photo. This graininess introduces a rough, tactile quality that contrasts with the smoothness of the digital image, evoking a sense of authenticity and ruggedness. The grain serves to emphasize the natural, unpolished aspects of the cover, aligning with the album’s themes of introspection and genuine self-discovery.
